So cute!!! :) |
Creating a Zombie Hunter Costume
Got a call today for an emergency zombie hunter costume from my sister, Tonia. This is what I get for being creative and loving zombie stuff.
I am now going to create a Zombie Hunter costume! Bwaha! She's actually making her own but I thought it would be fun to show others how I would do it.
The one thing that doing for her is sewing a Health Pack that looks just like the Left 4 Dead ones (hence the reason for the call). I googled patterns for this and decided that I would buy one rather than make one because of the weird zippers and shape. For this project, if the shape is wrong that whole "coolness" of the pack is lost. The pattern that I bought was $10 and it is the most authentic looking one that I found. I didn't mind spending money on this because I will be able to reuse it and Tonia will use this bag after her party because its from one of her favorite video games.
Tonia specifically asked to be Zoey from the first Left 4 Dead. I'm going to use that and also the figurine that I sculpted of her for her birthday cake topper. I like all of the stuff that I used for that Zombie hunter version of her.
Things that we have
1. She will probably only carry one of these in her thigh holster because she will be at a party and she wont want to be carrying crap around.
2. Explained above
3. She can add a couple of these to her belt to make her BA.
4. With the make-up she can add dirt smears to her face, maybe blood splatter and scratches. Also, the wrap gauze around her arm and add red paint to make it look like blood is soaking thru.
5. As seen in the photo above, Zoey is also a chuck fan. We would have gotten along great. :)
6. Old pair of jeans + ripping + dirt = amazing!
Stuff to buy:
The first thing to do would be to locate a similar red jacket. It looks sporty so I'm thinking that there would be something at like walmart.
Also the fabric for the bag as well as the cost for the pattern.
She may need an awesome chunky leather belt to put everything on.
Some other ideas (if there is extra time) would be making these items to go onto her belt.
Thanks!!

Tonia's Dorm
My baby sister will be going off to college next fall. I, of course, have taken if upon myself to design her dorm decor. Our tastes don't match. At all. However, I am willing to stretch outside my comfort zone to find something that she is comfortable with, is practical, and (most importantly) affordable.
I'm starting with basic pictures I found for inspiration. Most of them are very "me" but I want her to see that there are other options out there as well. Also, these styles were the first ones that I was drawn to to I obviously need to work on refining my tastes in this project. I'm going to try to group these but I don't if that will really help anyone but me. My mind completely it own. :)
I like this just because of the canopy. You wouldn't think to put one in a dorm but it does add a cozy feel. And they are coming back in style. |
I like the canopy on this one. Also, love the lighting and the quirky pictures behind the bed. |
I like the country look of all three of the pics. I like that they are doing one bed normal and the other side-ways. Not a huge fan of the burlap or the quilts. Too antiqued for a college student. |
Less traditional canopy. Still have the same charm. Lanterns are cute but they go in and out of style. If your going to spend money on something expensive, it has to be versatile. Lanterns included. |
Made this pic XL Large so y'all can see how comfortable it looks. It looks to relaxing and I really want to be there right now. |
And now for stuff that is more "Tonia".
Delia's bedding. Love the bird motif. Not as versatile as the one above. |
Not a fan of the chandelier motif. I think it's over used. The birdcage is too. Love the rug and the ottomans. Very stylish. I wouldn't be embarrassed to bring my friends back here. |
I don't know where I got all of the pictures. Just random searches in google. I've had them saved in a paint doc for a while so I don't remember.
I did save one URL which had a lot of ID for dorm info, here.
(If that doesn't work, google "elisabeth's dorm room". Her blog was one of the first to come up.
